The Skype Mobile Phone on Three

Skype, the VOIP service owned by eBay has launched it first official mobile phone with the 3 network.
2009 UPDATE: The Skyp Phone is so popular that there seems to be a worldwide drought! We have located very few stock and they can be purchased HERE FOR A LIMITED TIME ONLY.
The Skypephone – which costs only about £90 and is available on several contract tariffs – is aimed at avid Skype users who want to be able to VOIP for free, on the move. A big “Skype” button which, when clicked, will lead you to your list of contacts, is at disposal under the big, 2 inch screen. The handset has a very basic keypad, comes in black, pink or blue and weighs just 86g. Functions include an MP3 player, mobile TV, games, a web browser and most importantly, the 2 megapixel camera which doesn’t let you use it as a webcam for video calling.
The interface is the same as on your PC but the quality of your conversations aren’t as decent. Another downside is that calls and chat messages are limited on Skype-to-Skype despite having to pay £10 per month to even get anything from Skype. Another bad thing is that you cannot use SkypeOut. The phone was launched on the second of December 2007 in the UK, Australia, Denmark, Italy and Hong Kong.
All in all, it is a good phone but a bit too basic so unless you’re a Skype lover or somebody who will use their mobile phone only for making calls, this handset isn’t worth buying.

anyone know if this product will come to the United States?
Great, Dan! How is the phone? I know it’s been here a long time but I just joined the blog’s staff and felt it was necessary to review it!
I really wanted one but no SkypeOut calls meant there was no reason to buy it!
This was launched back in early November in the UK – when I bought one.
I searched for a US version but I didn’t find anything. Probably because no company (such as AT&T) has wanted to “sponsor” or launch it yet!
thanks Triple
No problem, Nextel
Good luck on getting the phone!

b/s three dont charge on skype……
I got this phone several days ago, and while the phone itself appears to be fine, I have had severe headaches everytime I’m near it. Even if I’m not calling on it, I have a constant sharp pain in my head if it is turned on. As a result I have to have it turned off all the time, and am going to have to get a new phone. Has anyone else experienced anything like this?
already appeared new models of The Skypephone?
Thanks, I actually never knew that ebay owned Skype.

skype mobile phones will give tough competition to mobile networks.
skype mobiles are better than normal ones.
thanks , was a good post
This post can help a lot of people,
Thanks for sharing.
The price for this one is very attractive, but as you mention it’s very basic.
Wow, if this skype phone runs purely off wi-fi and has no monthly cost that would be AMAZING.
thanks! it was a good post
hmm – i think a skype and also a twitter handy isn’t really usefull to me. Maybe for business where a lot of people use skype is this a nice gimmick but it isn’t a really alternative to a normal handy or even an iphone!

This is so cool I NEED to get me one of these – hopefully they are still in stock when payday comes around.
i think this phone is great!
So wait, is this not coming to the US? Because I haven’t heard anything about it here…
Well, the alternative is to use a pda with skype installed. It works very well for me, but you can’t compete with somebody sitting on a pc and writing messages from there. Audio quality is good in my case.
Have integrated celphone with skype is fantastic. The voip will certainly replace conventional telephony shortly.
Really interesting, thanks for sharing that gadjet !
I need it, you made it ! thanks a lot !!!!!
I need it you make it ! Thanks you so much !
GReat !
Skype is really good in VOIP services
Very good
Its about time that Skype has taken advantage of voip in this fashion. This should be very popular not only in the UK but also in the states and the world since Skype has such a huge user base.
Great Phone, Cant wait to get one for myself .
