Harman Kardon’s SoundSticks II three-piece speaker system produces high-quality stereo sound for Music, MP3’s, movies and gaming experiences.  SoundSticks II apparently “encourages you to step out of the ordinary speaker world and offers sound in an original and unique package” and I can’t fault this statement from other journalists.  The system is curvy, sleek and sexy, but doesn’t just appeal to the eyes.  We managed to listen to the system in the office the other day and the sound is equally impressive thanks to a new computer-optimized multi-band parametric equalization.

If you are looking for a relatively cheap speaker system for your house then this is ideal.  It fits in with any contemporary home, and we can’t think of a more contemporary designed 3 piece multimedia speaker system as cheap as this.

If you’re a party animal who just cant bear the thought of not attending any kind of party even if it’s for children (I kid, I kid) then you should have the necessary accoutrements that will allow you to start your own parties whenever and wherever you want….the iPod Party Speaker.

Available at the cheapest price from Iwantoneofthose.com

For the serious patrtyphile the iPod Party Speaker should be considered as standard issue equipment and an important weapon in your party arsenal. The iPod Party Speaker is a mobile party system that will beat all other usurpers to the throne. This party animal is made from heavy duty aluminum and is mounted on a two wheeled base that is also equipped with a retractable handle. This mobile speaker system has 22 watts of power that is enough to power the most frenetic parties. Using this party system is not a problem. It has a mains cable that you can plug to the nearest socket for non stop entertainment and partying. But if there’s no electricity to be found (say, you start a party in the forest) then the internal rechargeable battery kicks in. The juice is enough for 12 non stop hours of music. You can plug your iPod directly into the system, but not only that, you can also plug in other CD or MP3 players, even musical instruments. The iPod Party Speaker also comes with a microphone so you can really live the role of the DJ in your party. You can even turn it into a karaoke machine if you want.

Cool “stealth” speakers for your home

Music surrounds me all the time. I’m such a big fan of music that I can safely say that I can’t live without it. I’ve been collecting music for decades now and just to make sure that I get the most bang for my music entertainment I have built a modest audio setup in my house. I love my simple yet very nice sounding set of audio equipment but I have to say — the speakers can be quite hard to really cohesively meld into my living room. My wife doesn’t complain about it too much because she knows of my passion for music but I know that if she has her way, the speakers should never be seen by anyone, just heard.

If my wife sees these concept speakers though I bet she’ll immediately buy them for me if she could. The “soundshelf” speakers (http://technabob.com/blog/2009/02/19/soundshelf-design-concept-not-for-libraries/) are a great way of actually solving the dilemma of speakers sticking out like a sore thumb in any room. These nifty speakers actually double as other household items like shelves and DVD racks. The concept is really cool if you think about it from an aesthetic perspective but from a purely sonic / acoustic one this idea could fall short. Speaker boxes are acoustically designed to deliver the best sound possible so these stealth ideas will not translate well into great sound. But for those less finicky about sound and just want great looking speakers the wife will approve of, then these soundshelf speakers are the perfect solution.

Mobiblu “UFO” MP3 player/speakers are out of this world

I love looking at the innovative designs made for Apple’s iPod. The third party manufacturers are consistently competing with each other on who can produce the most interesting, avante garde designs for the iPod. I’ve seen so many designs over the last few years and all of them, I must admit, has made me want to buy these items. They are practically sculptures that serve a practical function.

That’s why it was not so much a surprise when I saw the latest product of Mobiblu (http://web.mac.com/mobiblu/Site/MobiBLU.html). The Korean accessories and electronics manufacturer has come out with a new Mp3 player that looks so much like a flying saucer that UFO nuts will want to buy it for their own rooms.

The intriguing design has been said to have been arrived at in order to produce a power built in speaker that is located beneath the unit and have space for dedicated media buttons at the top.

The A10 UFO also possesses lights that you can turn on. It also vibrates as a way of simulating “motion”. Unfortunately, the unit does not have an LCD

screen so navigation will largely be in the proverbial dark, which will pose a problem if you plug in a memory card that has a large capcity — which is absolutely sure given that the price of memory and portable drives have drastically dropped.

The A10 UFO has support for MP3, ASF, OGG and WMA formats and will have a 15 hour battery life (if used with headphones) or 5 to 6 hours if the speakers are used. There is a convenient bluetooth function so connecting your devices wirelessly will be a cinch.

At this point there is still no pricing being released but expect to see it in stores this year.
