Sony BDP-S350 Blu-Ray Player
You wont believe how much of a stir this Blu-Ray player caused last Christmas. Everyone needed to buy one and they regularly went out of stock across the UK. Even though slightly newer models have been released, they don’t compare to the Sony BDP-S350 and it’s many rave reviews.
It comes with everything you need in a Blu-Ray player: HD1080, 24P True Cinema, x.v Colour and Sony’s patented Bravia Sync. Bogged down by the jargon? Who cares as all you need to know is that this is one serious player, for a not too serious price. You can’t really argue against 130 positive customer reviews on Amazon.

Panasonic BD60EB Blu-Ray Player
The first in our selection of the best Blu-Ray players thats isn’t made by Sony. Don’t be fooled though, the Panasonic DB60EB seriously packs a punch that you can’t avoid. With a similar selection of must-have features that Blu-Ray discs are known for it also comes with Panasonic’s personal touches.
PHL Reference Chroma Plus Technology makes the picture as close to the actual film as possible whilst their P4HD technology recreates pixels in a visually stunning way. Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-Ray Player
Coming in at a slightly cheaper price than any of the above players the Samsung BD-P1600 is a fairly practical entry level player that comes with most of the Blu-Ray features mentioned above. It definitely doesn’t have the style of the Sony players, or the features of the Panasonic but it most certainly is an excellent budget player.
Perhaps the best new feature with this model is it’s Fast Playback speeds. No more wasted seconds between inserting the Blu-Ray disc and getting the movie underway.

Sony BDPS360B Profile 2.0 Blu-ray Player with BD Live
Sony’s BDP Blu-ray series is massively popular so we thought it was about time we mentioned their newest, and no doubt their best seller over this forthcoming Christmas, the BDP S360.
Buy at the UK’s Guaranteed Cheapest Price of £125.50![]()
It isn’t a surprise that Blu-ray stores 5 times more detail than a standard DVD allowing you to view movies the way the director intended, however it isn’t often that sound keeps up. With the BDP S360 you get 7.1 channel sound direct to your speaker system, and with the exclusive online content you get by hooking this particular Sony Blu-ray player to BD-Live you have unparalleled viewing.
You obviously get much much better picture quality than conventional TV broadcasts thanks to the BDP S360’s 40 megabits a second record and playback rate. Another contributer to this is its ability to display full HD images at 1920 x 1080 line resolution. Even better, the new Precision Cinema HD Upscale technology will convert the standard-definition signals of your DVDs to the full HD 1080 equivalent, so you get the best out of your complete movie library.
The big thing that Sony love to mention about the BDP S360, and indeed all their Blu-ray players is the ability to watch movies at 24 frames per second. This is the speed they were filmed at, and by matching the playback rate you get excellently crisp and smooth visual effects.
Not content with this Sony have to ’showboat’ even more by adding x.v colour technology which doubles the range of colours that can be reproduced on screen and makes on screen images far more vivid. This is definitely one to be tested, as visual experiences can be truly spectacular and certainly were with the Sony BDP S360.

First Ever Blu-Ray Player Slash Media Streamer

Say hello to HDI Dune BD Prime – nope, he is not related by any means to Optimus Prime of the Autobots but he sure is one heck of a gadget! HDI Dune BD Prime is in fact the name of the world’s first Blu-Ray player which doubles as a media streamer.
I got wind of its release from HDTV Info, which states the basic version of this player will set you back 449 euros (440 GBP). Ouch – and that’s for the basic version only! So what does the Prime have to offer for its price?
There are 4 configurations:
• Dune BD Prime
• Dune BD Prime + Wi-Fi 802.11n
• Dune BD Prime + Ethernet 1000 Mb/s
• Dune BD Prime + 2 x eSATA
Hardware
• Sigma Designs 8634 SoC
• 384 MB of RAM, 64 MB flash and 1GB of NAND flash memory for fastest Java support on the latest and future Blu-Ray disks (Profile 2.0).
• HDMI 1.3 for ultimate HD video and HD audio performance.
• Optical and coaxial digital and 7.1 analogue audio output.
• Composite, component, S-Video video output.
• Three USB 2.0 ports for connecting external AV sources.
• Ethernet 100 Mb/s and Wi-Fi up to 300 Mb/s (optional).
It doesn’t look too bad, does it? But I was thinking, I essentially have all these – and more – with my PlayStation3! Why should I spend another several hundred pounds to get the Prime? You tell me! Are you willing to part with almost £500 for this baby?
