LG to release internet enabled TVs

Among the list of electronics manufacturers all over the world, LG is not considered as one of the top players. But even though it may not be considered as part of the big boys, the South Korean based company does not let the others from making technological advancements on their own. LG will innovate and develop new technologies on its own, too.
LG (http://www.lge.com/) has recently announced that it has plans of releasing a line of televisions that will provide users with a direct access to the internet. These internet equipped televisions can be used to gain access to such online services as NetFlix, which distribute films electronically. But the technology can also be used for other internet on demand sites and maybe even YouTube. The technology will also allow for free access to the internet as well as the ability to stream content too.
LG has not yet given any timelines or schedules on when these new TVs will be released to the market (the folks at LG are now dubbing these TVs Broadband HDTVs – frankly, quite unimaginative for a name). But analysts are predicting that these new TVs will definitely be worth a lot of money. Some say that it will be about £200 more expensive than the “ordinary” HDTVs.
Despite the obvious uphill climb towards consumer acceptance and patronage, the idea behind the TV is quite solid. We are seeing the use of the internet in more and more innovative ways and a TV with internet access is one of those perfect pairings. Expect other manufacturers to come out with their own versions of the Broadband HDTV in the months to come.
