New Lenovo laptop has two screens!
Innovations always excite me. I just find the implementation of these unique and refreshing ideas quite invigorating. For me, it feels like I’m looking at subtle glimpses of what technology will be in the future. Does that make me a dyed in the wool gadget freak? Maybe it does and I guess I’m proud of it.
In terms of innovation in the computer frontier, Lenovo’s new technological coup has caught my undivided attention. And the reason is simple – a second LCD screen.
Lenovo’s new ThinkPad W700ds (http://www.lenovo.com/uk/en/) can be summed as having the most unique form factors in the market today. The new notebook has a 17-inch widescreen LCD screen. But the really innovative part is a second 10.6-inch screen that pops out from the side of the laptop lid. This secondary screen has a portrait orientation. The second screen has a rotational ability of 30 degrees.
So what’s the use of this secondary screen? Well, it’s built for those who want to work in a dual monitor environment.
I myself use a dual monitor setup in my home office. And I can say that work is much easier to do when you have two monitors to use. Multi tasking is so much easier because you can open multiple windows and applications without having to alt+tab through the whole thing.
Being a pioneering effort, there are a number of, shall we say, hiccups in terms of the actual implementation. The laptop weighs 11 lbs, is over 2 inches thick and only has a 2-hour battery life. But despite this I still think it is a commendable effort.

Its really exciting to know that lenovo laptops has two screens. The W700DS has plenty of options when it comes to connectivity with five USB ports, VGA, 1394 FireWire, CF card reader, Express 64, dual-link DVI, DisplayPort, 7-in-1 card reader, ethernet and wireless. Great features.
Wow ho, two screens lappie, .. it comes with choice of Intel Core 2 Quad processors and combined with the NVIDIA Quadro FX 3700M GPU. With those two screens and that pop-out stylus it’s a little bit like a Nintendo DS.
