USB Negative Scanner

Most of us would have a hidden stash of 35mm film negatives in a drawer somewhere. And how many would say they’ve resolved to get those films developed, scanned and digitally stored? It’s a painful process, I know, but one that we all need to do if we need to preserve those priceless pictures of yesteryears.
I still have those 35mm stash myself and while I’m procrastinating to bring it back to life, good thing that technology caught up with this specific need. The USB Negative Scanner is a marvel! It’s USB powered and relatively straightforward to use. I mean how wouldn’t be “plug-in… insert negative… and press the button” be easy? Don’t worry about digitally prepping your photos just yet, the task is to get those negatives into digital format (5 megapixels) first.
And just in case you’re still thinking of procrastinating even further, may I remind you that those negatives have shelf-life. Yes they do not last forever, give or take 5 years or so, you’d see picture quality degrade even further.
It’s available for about £80 right here. While it’s currently not available for purchase yet, they’re accepting pre-orders.
Let me give you a little info straight from their website: “At the touch of a button this idiot-proof gizmo scans 35mm negatives or slides and converts the trapped images into digital pics. You can then edit, crop and resize them using the included software ready for printing, archiving or just viewing on the big screen. It’s like delving into the past without the DeLorean. “

For the price this is a fairly decent scanner, ok it’s not going to keep up with the likes of the Nikon scanners but for the cost the images are still fairly decent. Even better if you have some Photoshop skills at your disposal as you can increase the quality of the images produced.
