So you want your drink cold and you want it now. Whip out this little beauty and in 60 seconds you’ll have gone from warm to frosty cold.
Up to 240 times faster than a fridge the Tinchilla can chill a regular 350ml can of drink from room temperature to frosty cold in 60 seconds.
The Tinchilla is a simple device which utilizes thermal conduction. By spinning the can the metal is rapidly chilled by exposing its surface to the ice cubes and water surrounding it. The spinning can is also given a slight wobble resulting in a whirlpool effect inside. This whirpool allows as much of the drink as possible to be exposed to the now chilled surface of the can thus rapidly transferring the heat from inside to the surrounding water and ice.
In just 60 seconds nearly all of the liquid inside the can will have come into contact with the chilled metal and is therefore substantially cooled.
The Tinchilla runs on two AA batteries and a handful of ice. To use just place your unopened can into the Tinchilla with a few ice cubes, switch on, leave for sixty seconds and you will have a delightfully cold serving of your favourite beverage. Works with most regular size soda cans.
I’m not sure that dropping your can in a bowl of ice wouldn’t just do the same thing, but hey its an interesting idea, if it works. At just £4.99 its got to be worth a try, what with global warming/Indian summers and all.
Now all we need is one that fits 440ml beer cans.
