Keyboards can’t get any more impressive than this great virtual concept from Optimus. These crazy Russian guys have got something special with this configurable key design.
The Optimus keyboard utilizes OLED technology in order to achieve the desired effects. This is said to be much cheaper than traditional LED based “e-paper”.
The configuration of all the keys can be done on a per-application basis, providing a great usability increase – not just for work, but games too! The configuration system will be documented with an open source software development kit (SDK) to ensure the keyboard can be used with as many operating systems as possible.
Thereââ¬â¢s a group of ten keys on the left for application launching.
Before you get too excited, this keyboard isn’t available to pre-order, order, or buy from anywhere. It’s still awaiting patents and at the stage of picking a buyer who will manufacture it. They expect to ave it out sometime in 2006 for all you hungry buyers.
