Dell has introduced the DJ Ditty to try and compete with the likes of the iPod shuffle and is primarily marketing the product via word of mouth.
The Ditty is a half-inch thick, holds up to 220 songs and includes an FM tuner and a LCD screen.
“It’s the first time we’re using a word-of-mouth campaign to drive interest, instead of a traditional ad campaign,”
Th major difference of the Ditty is that it plays music protected by Microsoft Corp.’s digital rights management technology, which is used by online music sites supporting the Windows Media Player.
Features
# 512MB of storage for up to 2202 songs
# Integrated FM tuner / Easy to read 26×11mm LCD screen
# Slim design measuring 3.6 x 1.1 x .5 inches and weighing only 1.29 ounces
# Rechargeable Lithium Polymer battery with up to 14 hours3 of battery life
# Includes earbuds, lanyard, and black & blue USB Cap
# Easy and affordable downloads via Musicmatch Jukebox by Y!Music
# Compatible with Napster to Go
# Compatible with Audible
I personally think Dell are going to have to do much more, the item doesn’t really look much and the name sounds stupid in my opinion and far from being ‘cool’. Ditty sounds like bitty, a phrase used on Little britain, come on Dell you can do better than this!
