Broadband is now accessible from anywhere in UK at 2 Mbps

Internet creates an identity for everyone around the globe and we are in search of identities. But only the people of the metro cities have complete access to the Internet. Rural’s still dial out to send a friend request. But the situation will change 100% by 2012, said the government officials and the broadband providers.

Microsoft and Yahoo Merge to Double Team Google
This agreement ends years of negotiations and gives Microsoft access to the internet’s second-largest search engine audience, in a bid to crush Googles total world dominance. It adds a potentially potent weapon to Microsoft’s Internet arsenal as the software maker girds for an online assault against Google. After years of dwindling Yahoo financial success this link is being hailed as crucual in preventing Google’s market share from reaching record levels around the world.
In the process, Yahoo hopes to recover some of the money that was squandered in 2008 when it turned down a chance to sell the entire company to Microsoft for £29bn.
Safari 4 public beta looks promising
My wife is the Mac user between the two of us, mainly because she has the lone Mac in our home. I gave her a Macbook (http://www.apple.com) as a gift and she became an immediate convert. Gone are the days when she would just scream in frustration when she can’t figure out what’s happening in Windows. And, God bless her, with the Mac OS, she never got afraid to actually tinker and try to discover the many features of the OS. It really is a very user friendly OS. She even immediately took to Safari as a browser the moment she first used it. I, on the other hand, am a bit more inflexible.
Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam
Do people still use webcams? If you do then the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 is a pretty good example. It might not be the cheapest but at least you can be sure it will have pretty good quality.
It uses Carl Zeiss optics with autofocus and 8-megapixel images to provide top-notch visual detail and clarity. Even with poor lighting you can still see whats going on because of the Rightlight 2 technology (huh?). It even lets you spic up boring video calls with the added visual effect filters, avatars, and face accessories.
Linksys WRT110 RangePlus Wireless Router
I bought a Linksys Router WRT110 today. This purchase was necessary because our current NetGear and Dell True Mobile routers are acting a little funny. Not really sure why but it just keeps releasing our DHCP’d IP wireless IPs EVEN if we configured it to reserve it for 24 hours. Argghh… you couldn’t imagine the “hair-pulling” involved when we would try to fix it, and then only to find out the only fixing it needed was to power-recycle it every hour. Que horror!
ASUS unveils video call device
Internet messaging software has become so ubiquitous that every single PC in the world probably has it installed. And of course, gone are the days when contact is done through typing messages to each other. You now have the option of actually talking to your mates for free using the many messaging software that is available for free on the internet. Of course, there are still some luddites out there who think that attaching or fixing a webcam and IM software is beneath them or not worthy of their time.
Google Earth UK street view to come in spring
Every person who has used Google’s Google Earth application has been impressed by the sheer genius of the application. Just the thought of seeing places (alright, the place where you live) from a top down view just like those spy photos that you see in action and espionage films is enough to titillate even the most jaded technology user.
Pret A Manger to offer real free WiFi

Google adds a to-do list
If you’re the kind of person who receives instructions and job-orders via the internet BY EMAIL, then you’d probably been cutting and pasting from you GMail program to your to-do list program either in Microsoft Outlook, Lotus Organizer or Mac’s Calendar. I’ve tried it and cutting and pasting everyday is a nuisance!
