New Twitter Phones – INQ Chat and INQ Mini

If you own and INQ1 mobile phone already then my heart goes out to you, as all the talk is about the new school varieties:  the INQ Chat and the INQ Mini that are due to be released just in time for Christmas.

The original INQ1 social media phone is still pretty good, but one major flaw is that it doesn’t come loaded with Twitter, whilst the two new phones will….to top it off, the INQ1 will never have Twitter either.

Spotify, Your iPhone App has ruined my life and kidnapped my kids

We revealed this week that the Spotify iPhone App has just been submitted to iTunes and is being considered for general release, but it seems this process has taken too long for iPhone addict Steven Ramsey, from Scotland.

Single father Ramsey has claimed that the delay in getting the Spotify App to the market has resulted in a series of unfortunate events that started with him filing for bankruptcy having spent all his money on music.  With no money left to pay for daily necessities his local government were forced to remove his three children from their family home and place them in foster care, or in his own words “kidnap” them.

LG have finally dropped their cloak and daggers and have given us a first glimpse of the new LG BL40 Chocolate widescreen phone, and boy oh boy is it sexy!

As rumoured, the LG BL40 Chocolate has a 21:9 ratio 4-inch LCD screen, so you’ll be able to see messages and your whole inbox simultaneously, or banish the black bars from mobile movies. It’s a quirky feature, but has the potential to be a major trendsetter.

If you are the sort of thrify individual that likes to find a good bargain then the iPhone Application AppSniper could be for you.  Why pay that full 59p for and app when you could bag it with money off….obviously this last part is tongue-in-cheek sarcasm but in all seriousness AppSniper is pretty awesome.

Microsoft and Yahoo Merge to Double Team Google

This agreement ends years of negotiations and gives Microsoft access to the internet’s second-largest search engine audience, in a bid to crush Googles total world dominance. It adds a potentially potent weapon to Microsoft’s Internet arsenal as the software maker girds for an online assault against Google. After years of dwindling Yahoo financial success this link is being hailed as crucual in preventing Google’s market share from reaching record levels around the world.

In the process, Yahoo hopes to recover some of the money that was squandered in 2008 when it turned down a chance to sell the entire company to Microsoft for £29bn.

The Spotify iPhone app is the end of iTunes

You have to be a tech newbie to have missed the fuss about Spotify, and the iPhone app has been tipped to revolutionise music on the go.  With free(ish) music at your fingertips by the barrel-load why would you need to pay premium for an album or track on iTunes?

This is the conundrum that has left tech journalists fussing over whether iTunes will actually allow Spotify to be included on the list of iPhone apps within iTunes, or even be used on the iPhone at all!

So it seems that the Blackberry Curve 8520 now has an official UK release date according to some leaked information.  Coming with built in Blackberry must have features it is set to be another worthy, if not familiar, addition to the Blackberry fold.

The Samsung Omnia HD is a touch phone and from the looks of it, it is being positioned to compete with the Apple iPhone (the looks and functions are a dead giveaway). The Omnia HD has a touch sensitive screen that measures 3.7in, the resolution is 360 x 640 (at 720p). The phone is equipped with an 8 megapixel camera that possesses both face detection and smile detection. There’s even an anti blink mode, which basically prevents taking photos of people when their eyes are closed.

I recently blogged about the new iPhone Version 3.0 OS update for Apple’s vaunted Jesus phone, the £621.57 iPhone. The new update finally addressed the issues and missing features that iPhone users felt a phone should have as standard features in any new phone, namely, the ability to send MMS and copy and paste functions. Apple did admirably well in finally addressing customer requests and complaints and has turned the iPhone into a more complete smartphone now.

Safari 4 public beta looks promising

My wife is the Mac user between the two of us, mainly because she has the lone Mac in our home. I gave her a Macbook (http://www.apple.com) as a gift and she became an immediate convert. Gone are the days when she would just scream in frustration when she can’t figure out what’s happening in Windows. And, God bless her, with the Mac OS, she never got afraid to actually tinker and try to discover the many features of the OS. It really is a very user friendly OS. She even immediately took to Safari as a browser the moment she first used it. I, on the other hand, am a bit more inflexible.

N86 pushes Nokia into 8 megapixel territory

Nokia (http://www.nokia.co.uk) unveiled another attention worthy mobile phone at the World Mobile Congress and this time we’ll see a big leap for Nokia’s digital cam feature.
Nokia revealed the N86 at the World Mobile Congress, the new model is noteworthy in that this mark’s Nokia’s first phone to carry an 8 megapixel camera. The N86 is developed to really take advantage of its camera. It has a Carl Zeiss Tessar lens, dual LED flash, a wide angle mode and also autofocus. Additionally, it can also record video at 30 frames per second at 640 x 480 resolution.

The Mobile World Congress has proven to be venue for seeing the latest phone models mobile phone manufacturers will offer to the public this year. And probably one of the busiest manufacturers during the exhibition was Nokia (http://www.nokia.co.uk) as the company revealed more information for its 2009 line of mobile phones.
Of the new line though the most promising would probably by the 6720 Navigator and 6720 Classic.

Universal Cell Phone Chargers… at last!

Here is spectacular news from leading cellphone manufacturers and telephone companies (Nokia, Motorola, Samsung, Sony Ericsson, LG, T-Mobile, Orange, 3, AT&T and Vodafone)… by 2012 they are all backing plans to create a universal phone recharger. Yay! I first heard this news from Natalie del Conte’s “Loaded” podcast.

With the Mobile World Congress beginning in just a week, expect an unusual influx of mobile phone related news becoming available. Of course, in any gatherings of this type displays and announcements are not going to be limited to just mobile phones. For example Modu is also going to make its presence felt at the event.

Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 Webcam

Do people still use webcams? If you do then the Logitech QuickCam Pro 9000 is a pretty good example. It might not be the cheapest but at least you can be sure it will have pretty good quality.

It uses Carl Zeiss optics with autofocus and 8-megapixel images to provide top-notch visual detail and clarity. Even with poor lighting you can still see whats going on because of the Rightlight 2 technology (huh?). It even lets you spic up boring video calls with the added visual effect filters, avatars, and face accessories.

Sony releases new mid level phone with 5MP camera

Sony Ericsson has been producing many mid level mobile phones that are packed with many features you’ll think they’re high end models.
