Before investing in something like this, also consider just sending your tapes and records out to an outside digitization service, like namely ours: Reclaim Media.

Our service has all sorts of refinements that these USB units lack.

Our equipment is better so you’ll get better sound.

We type in all the metadata for you.

The vinyl records we do get photographic album art and physical cleaning before play to get rid of that “crackle” sound made by dust and dirt in the grooves.

We don’t eat up your free time: So long as your free time is worth at least minimum wage to you, we’re actually CHEAPER too!

I wrote an article “Why Not Digitize My Tapes and Records at Home?” that’s about issues and DIY pitfalls like these. If you’re trying to decide what to do with your old tapes and records, you owe it to yourself to give it a look.

So yeah. Before you spend money on this, give us a look as well. You’ll save yourself some hassle and time for sure!
